* I am seeking advice. I have 3 herniated disks in my lower spine which causes me severe and constant pain. Because I am also a diabetic with allergic reactions to sulfa drugs, many analgesics and other related issues such as asthma, and am also being treated for epilepsy. I have been told the side-effects of Tramadol (none of which I would like added to my list of problems). I also have tried most of the options available to me for pain management. My doctor is now suggesting I try taking the Tramadol but I am concerned about drug interaction and side effects and would like to know if this is something I should worry about..
* For 2 years I have been taking Tramadol for pain of fibromyalgia. This along with acetominaphen was holding the pain in a tolerable range. In the past 6 months, I have suffered problems ranging from chills to sweats and rapid breathing. At about the same time, the medications seemed to stop working for pain control. My doctor has been weaning me away from the Tramadol and suggesting another alternative but the side effects of Tramadol withdrawal is worth the benefits that I received from its use..
* Seven weeks ago I was in an auto accident and nearly killed. I have a ruptured spleen and the first 5 disks of my spine were shattered. Luckily I was not paralyzed from this but must wear a cervical collar and faced with more surgical procedures. My doctor is giving me Tramadol as a way of removing me from the morophine that was used to control pain as morophine is addictive. I have since learned that Tramadol is also addictive and am wondering what other alternatives I may have..
* I have been taking Ultram (a combination of Tramadol and acetominaphen) for pain. I already knew that the possible side effects of taking Tramadol for pain. I have just learned that acetominaphen (I thought Tylenol was safe), but it has the possible side effect of liver damage when taken in the dosage size that I have been prescribed. Now I am faced with making the choice of continuing with the Ultram or seeking something new.
* I have osteoarthritis and have been on pain medications for many years. The latest medications are Celebrex and Tramadol but it is not working well for me. My doctor prescribed this combination after Vioxx was recalled and I am concerned about the side effects of each. Does anyone know of other possible alternatives? I hate taken medications when I can try something else that works..
* My mother took Tramadol for more than 4 years before trying a combination of Bing cherry juice and cayenne pepper tablets. She said she had read somewhere that this was supposed to work. To our utter surprise, it did. She was Tramadol free without drug substitution for the last 3 years of her life..
* I have tried many drugs in the past year for the pain of degenerative bone disease. My knees and ankles are almost completely disintegrated making walking almost impossible. The medication I am presently taking is no longer working and my doctor is suggesting morophine. Is there a chance that Tramadol would be the better solution between the two? A friend told me about Tramadol..
* I have epilepsy and have had a stint placed in my heart. I suffer also from lower back pain from ruptured vertebrae from falling down stairs when I had a seizure. I am on several strong medications already and my doctor is suggesting Tramadol to control pain. I have read many warnings about Tramadol and am concerned about the combinations of drugs..
* Does anyone know of a possible alternative to Tramadol? I am pregnant so my doctor and I would like to rule out this medication. I have read the side effects to my child if I were to take this drug and the bad far out weighs the good. I would like to find more options to research so that I am better informed with any suggestion that my doctor may make..
* I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and have been using analgesics for some time. These do not seem to help as much as before and I would like to learn what alternatives maybe open to me. My doctor is suggesting Ultram (analgesic and Tramadol combination) but after researching Tramadol, I am concerned that this may be a drastic measure..
* Does anyone know if Tramadol is used for pain of Vascular Distention (not sure if correct term - is swelling of the veins due to inflammation)? My doctor is suggesting that I try it but I am not finding information about its use for this type of problem. He has already prescribed several topical analgesics but they only bring a little relief to the pain and wear off rapidly..
* I suffer from diabetic nerve pain. I have been on a combination of topical analgesics and Ultram (Tramadol and acetominaphen). I have found that the combination works well for me because I can use an analgesic ointment when the pain is mild to moderate and on days when it is most severe the medication takes away the pain..
* After years of large doses of Glucosamine and Chondroitin with very little benefit I have spoken with my doctor about some type of medication to help control the pain when the mild analgesics don't seem to help any longer. He prescribed Tramadol to be taken along with Tylenol. The combination seems to be working. What are the percentages for the side effects that I keep reading about?.
* I have a problem with pelvic pain that was aggravated by child birth. The result was a minor fracture (which has healed) and a twisting of intestine and low abdominal muscle tear. The latter two have caused severe pain when sitting or standing for long periods of time. I was told that Tramadol may help with the pain and am trying to learn more about this drug being used for internal organ and muscular problems..
* I already take strong medications that have the side effect of causing drowsiness and am concerned that the Tramadol that has been prescribed by my doctor will add to this side effect. I work in an office and can not risk falling asleep on the job because my medications are "knocking me out" on a daily basis..
* When I was to my doctor yesterday, my doctor suggested I try Tramadol for the chronic pain I experience from a spinal injury. I have read many of the comments here as well as checked in other websites. My concern is does the benefits out weigh the risks or are there alternatives that are much less risky but that provide similar benefits..
* I have been experiencing chest pains and feel faint at times. I have asked my doctor if this could be due to the Tramadol that I take on a regular basis back pain. He is assuring me that there is no connection but I am finding disagreeing responses from my internet searches. I would like the truth so I know if I should tell my doctor that he must change my medication or if I should just continue to take the Tramadol..
* My allergies do not allow me to take many forms of medications. This leaves me with few alternatives. One alternative for pain is Tramadol with acetominaphen in the form of Ultram. Tramadol seems to be working well for now but are there many alternatives and what are they to this combination if my body becomes used to these? Will I eventually have to resort to medications such as morophine later?.
* Tramadol is the medication that I have been taking for the past 3 years for rheumatoid arthritis. The swelling in my joints is becoming worse and the Tramadol is not working as long as it did. I have had the dosage increased twice in the past. I have also taken a pill a day more than prescribed on days that I have very severe pain. I am worried about increasing the dosage on a regular basis because of possible overdose. What is the milligram level that is acceptable before I should be concerned?.
